An access log contains a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while exploring your website. The list is comprehensive, so in case you have a webpage with 2 embedded images, for example, all of the three files shall be in the log, not only the page. An access log normally features the date, the Operating System, the web browser and the IP address for every file in human-readable form, so you can get a more complete picture about the most popular files on your website. The log, that is also typically named "raw data", is an addition to the web data that you normally get with a hosting account, not a replacement. An example why you could need such a log is if you want to use some software on your computer to prepare a report about the website’s efficiency, but you don't want to use the regular graphs and tables that come with the server-generated website stats.
Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting
Our custom Hepsia Control Panel features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your shared hosting account and take a look at this section, you shall find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you will see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with a click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You will still be able to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our state-of-the-art web hosting platform shall generate access logs for each site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this function is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have will be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we supply with all the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should just click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could disable this feature at any time by following the same steps. You can find a Download link for every single log within the exact same section of the CP, so you will be able to save the content produced by our system in .txt format with only a mouse click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the function has been disabled, so you'll still be able to view the data that has already been generated.
